Planet Mizmor 42, orbiting binary star ζ Lyr of the constellation Lyra, is a dead planet, blasted and razed, its surface and atmosphere choked with dust and ash. The only traces of life still present on the planet are those we could barely recognize as life, and which could never recognize each other as such. Creatures too insensible to the death of their planet to succumb to it. Semi-sentient crystalline forms drift aimlessly, listening for heat signatures on a planet without warmth. Furrowed, plantlike bodies rest, inert, sealed in thick husks, their generative processes -their bursting spores and explosive blooms- waiting for the light of suns which can scarcely pierce the occluded skies.
