Vegetarians: Innocent Vegan Plant-Folk, or Hypocritical Butchers?

By: Luke Meeken

First, allow me to say that vegetarianism simply for health reasons is okay with me. If people want to get healthy through this method of masochistic self-torture (their only form of protein is TOFU... XP), they can be my guest. On the other hand, vegetarianism as a matter of principle is rather silly. (I don't want to change this horrible old thing, for posterity's sake, but for the record, vegetarianism as a result of religon is fine by me, too. Heck, if it means more people are living happy, productive lives worshipping their deity of choice, I frankly don't care if they feel they can only morally imbibe pete moss -ed.) People who say things such as 'Oh, I can't eat another living thing, that's horrible!' have quite a bit of logic missing from their reasoning. For one thing, people are omnivores. We have pointy teeth, and we're SUPPOSED to eat other animals. Geez... And anyway, we HAVE to eat living things to survive. The only diffrence between eating a living plant and a living animal is that one is cuter and fuzzier than the other. In other words, vegetarians are all just playing favorites. Its alright to eat a plain green sprout, but to scarf down a slab of veal is inhumane. That makes about as much sense as Donald Trump running for office. And, if you want to get down to the nitty-gritty, at least animals have a fighting CHANCE. I mean, a REALLY intuitive animal could escape somehow, I'm sure, but poor, immobile, unsuspecting plants don't have that luxury. Wilbur the pig can try and run from farmer Bill, but Prudence the Potato Plant can only sit there, naďve of her fate, until she is RIPPED MERCILESSLY from the bosom of the earth, only to be fried, sliced, and served with a burger and a cheap Pokémon piece of crap plastic. Don't you see how we've taken advantage of plantkind?! It's time to take action, my friends! The revolution starts here! MEATATARIANS UNITE! Our plant brethren shall suffer no more!
